Imran Khan will be sworn in as Pakistan’s new Prime Minister before 14th of next month. Announcing it, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) said, it is trying to reach out to smaller parties and independents to form the next government. PTI leader Naeenul Haq told media that consultations are on to complete the number game.

Though PTI has emerged as the single largest party in the National Assembly after the general elections on 25th of this month, the party is still short of numbers to form the government on its own.
According to the results announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan, the PTI has bagged 116 seats.

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) with 64 seats and former President Asif Ali Zardari’s Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) with 43 seats are placed at number two and three.

Pakistan’s lower house of Parliament comprises a total of 342 members, of which 272 are directly elected. A party can only form the government if it manages to secure 172 seats in total.
