Eighty tehsils across 14 districts of Rajasthan have been declared drought-affected. Jodhpur has the highest number, with 12 tehsils, followed by Jalore and Barmer, with 10 tehsils each.

The state government has issued notifications in this regard, taking into account deficient rainfall and damage to Kharif crops. Out of the 80 tehsils, 69 have been classified as severely affected, while 11 have been categorised as moderately affected.

The declaration will remain in effect for the next six months. The government’s decision will facilitate the opening of fodder depots for livestock in the affected areas. Recovery of agricultural loans will also remain suspended for six months.
