Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today said government will give 15 kilograms food grain each to all SC, ST, OBC students staying in hostels at subsidised prices.
He was speaking to media in New Delhi after meeting food secretaries of the state. He said as per guidelines, the hostels with at least 2/3rd of the resident students belonging to SC/ST community are eligible to get subsidied foodgrains for all the resident students.
Mr Paswan said government is making systematic progress towards cash transfers of food subsidy.
He said welfare institutions such as beggar homes, naari niketans that are not covered under targeted public distribution system government has revamped its scheme for additional allocation of food grain to ensure adequate standards of nutrition in such institutions.
