The government of India today claimed that all villages in the country now have the access to electricity. Leisang village in Senapati district of Manipur was the last village that was brought on the national power grid yesterday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, 28th April 2018 will be remembered as a historic day in the development journey of the nation as the government fulfilled a commitment due to which the lives of several Indians will be transformed forever.
In a tweet, Mr Modi said, Leisang village, like the thousands of other villages across the country, has been powered and the news will make every Indian proud and delighted.

Power Minister RK Singh said the Prime Minister had made a promise from the ramparts of the Red Fort on 15th August 2015, to electrify all unelectrified villages. He said the government has achieved the milestone 12 days before the deadline.
