army-terror-attackEight terrorists, including a dreaded Hizbul Mujahideen commander, were killed in three separate encounters with security forces in South Kashmir today.

Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police SP Vaid said, while one terrorist was killed in Anantnag district, seven ultras were gunned down in Shopian.

The DGP said, the third encounter is on in Kachdoora area of Shopian where some civilians are reportedly trapped.

The security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in Dragad area of Shopian in the morning following specific inputs about the presence of terrorists there.

As the searches were being conducted, the terrorists fired upon the forces, triggering an encounter.

In Anantnag, the encounter took place after security forces launched a search operation in Peth Dialgam area, where one terrorist was killed and one surrendered.

Three soldiers have been injured in the operations.

Some clashes have also been reported between protesters and security forces at some places.
