Triple Talaq or Triple divorce among Muslims could attract three-year sentence. If sources in the government is to be believed, the social evil will also attract a penalty as well as punishment and will be treted as a non-bailable offense.
A Bill related to this could be introduced in Winter Session of Parliament. Sources said that Government will bring law to protect the rights of Muslim women in the country.
Earlier Government had constituted a Committee to deliberate on the issue of Triple Talaq and sought opinion of states to draft Bill for the purpose.
The committee has submitted its report. Committee Supreme Court has declared triple divorce unlawful. 67 cases of triple divorce after the Supreme Court decision.
So far, in this calendar year the government had received 177 complaints from Muslim women victims of instant triple talaq. These victims had approached the government saying the police had refused to register any complaint regarding this in absence of a law.
