Nearly 85 per cent polling has been recorded in the sixth and final phase of Assembly elections in West Bengal today. The polling was held in 25 Assembly constituencies today. Poll percentage is likely to go up after compilation of final figures.
In the last assembly polls voter turnout in these constituency was nearly four percent higher.
Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Deputy Election Commissioner Sandeep Saxena said, poling was by and large peaceful.
He said, FIR’s were registered against two candidates of Trinmool Congress for forcibly entering polling booths and interrupting polling officials from discharging their duties.
He said, today’s election has been historic as around 9400 people, who for the first time became citizens of India, also cast their votes.
