At least five persons have been killed and many injured in police firing following a scuffle between agitating people and the security forces.
The incident occurred when agitating people became violent in Hazaribagh on land acquisition issue by NTPC a public sector undertaking.
Hundreds of people were staging Dharma in the leadership of Local MLA Nirmala Devi.
According to police sources the agitators attacked the police when the police arrested local MLA and some of her supporters for restoring normalcy.
Some security forces have been seriously injured in the attack. Meanwhile additional forces have been deployed in the area and situation is under control though tense.The DIG Police is camping at the site to monitor the situation.
