Road to Rashtrapati Bhawan for Ms Draupadi Murmu is not very easy as 554 tribal MLAs across the country along with 47 Lok Sabha tribal MPs owe their allegence to different political parties but Murmu can get comfort from eight North East states.
In the house of 543 Lok Sabha members 47 members are from tribal community and constitute 32900 value of votes and 44725 value of votes from the 554 assembly seats.
Interestingly, Odisha from where she belongs has 33 tribal MLAs of which mostly are from BJD, although they are supporting her candidature.
Another state of Jharkhand which have 28 ST reserved seats are mainly members from rival BJP, JMM, who have not decided to vote for tribal candidate.
Interestingly in Tripura which has 20 tribal seats with value of 520 votes belongs to IPFT another ruling alliance of BJP.
Meanwhile from eight NE sates which constitutes 279 tribal MLAs have extended their support to NDA presidential candidate Ms Daupadi Murmu although all are from different political parties.
Total value of votes for president election is 1081546 votes.
