Calcutta HC declares Darjeeling bandh as illegal

The Calcutta High Court on Friday declared the Darjeeling bandh as illegal. Hearing a PIL, the High Court asked the GJM representative to appear before it next week. Recalling an order given by the court a few years back on bandhs, the division bench criticized the action of the GJM obstructing the normal life in the hill district.

Meanwhile, life in the hills remain disrupted as agitations brought out by Morcha supports blocked roads at several places, as the GJM-called bandh entered 15th day today. Agitators tried to obstruct the running of vehicles and functioning of government offices. However, there is no major report of untoward incident. Army and Para Military Forces are patrolling all over the district.
