PARLIAMENT

AMN / New Delhi

Thirteenth Session of the 16th Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die today. During the session, there were 13 sittings spread over 61 hours and 48 minutes.

A total 16 government Bills were introduced and 12 of them were passed, the Speaker said in her valedictory reference.

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned sine die with Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu observing that although Parliament was a political institution, it cannot be an extension of politics that is marked by deep divisions and acrimony.

In an indirect reference to the acrimonious differences between the government and the Opposition parties over the Triple Talaq Bill, Mr Naidu expressed concern over the disruptions in the House and extolled members to review, recall and introspect how they conducted the proceedings of the House.
