In the midst of the West Bengal Assembly elections, the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC) has issued an unusual directive to party candidates, asking them to deposit 50% of the funds received from the All India Congress Committee (AICC) into the state unit’s SBI account.
In a letter dated April 21, addressed to Congress candidates contesting the ongoing elections, the WBPCC urged them to contribute half of the amount provided by the central leadership for campaign purposes. The communication states that the contribution is intended to strengthen the party’s organisational structure in the state.
Mr. Sanjay Ghosh, General Secretary attached to the State Congress President, wrote the letter on the directions of the WBPCC President, calling on candidates to support the party towards strengthening the organisation.
