Vyapam scam: With 2 more deaths Congress seeks SC monitored CBI Probe

AMN/ July 6 //

The mystery around Vyapam or the multi layered Professional Examination Board scam of Madhya Pradesh deepened further with one more death of a person linked with the inquiry . The Dean of Jabalpur Medical College Dr. Arun Sharma was found dead in a hotel in Delhi. His death comes second day of another sudden death of a Delhi based journalist Mr. Akshay Singh who died Friday in Madhya Pradesh while interviewing the family of a Professional Examination Board scam victim in Jhabua.

The latest deaths have created a new political turmoil even though Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said that he will ask the Special Investigation Team- SIT to probe the death of Akshay Singh.

vyapamCongress has demanded a Supreme Court monitored probe by CBI into the deaths relating to the Vyapam scam.Calling it the most sinister scam in the history of India, party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is trying to divert attention from the core issue by parroting the line of SIT investigation. He also condoled the sudden death of the television journalist, saying truth should come out and justice should prevail.

Aam Aadmi Party also has demanded thorough investigation into the VYAPAM Scam and all the deaths relating to the case. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said in a tweet that guilty must be punished and more deaths must be prevented.

Party leader Manish Sisodia said there must be an independent probe into the journalist’s death by an SIT under Supreme Court’s monitoring.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley has offered his condolences to the family members and colleagues of the television journalist who died in Madhya Pradesh. Talking to a news agency in Delhi, Mr Jaitley said it is important that a fair enquiry is held so that all doubts regarding circumstances of his death could be set at rest.

Meanwhile, journalist Akshay Singh, was cremated at Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi today. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay were among those present during the cremation ceremony.

Congress today stepped up its attack on Madhya Pradesh government in VYAPAM scam and demanded an independent probe into the death of journalists in the country. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, party spokesperson R P N Singh questioned, if the chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chahuhan does not have anything to hide then why is he scared of a CBI probe into the scam. He also sought to know from the state government why persons related to the VYAPAM scam are being found dead one by one. Mr Singh also questioned, why Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not breaking his silence over the issue.
