European Union Members of Parliament have offered their support to India in its efforts to end terror. They also termed Article 370 an internal issue of India.

Addressing media in Srinagar after visiting Jammu and Kashmir, European lawmakers said they were here to support India’s efforts for lasting peace and ending terror. MP Ryszard Czarnecki said people in Kashmir want peace.

Narrating their observations, one of the delegation members said locals in Kashmir want jobs. The lawmakers regretted the killing of labourers from West Bengal by the terrorists yesterday. The visiting European Union MPs thanked the Central Government and the local administration for their warm hospitality.

The Opposition concern was highlighted by Nicolaus Fest, a part of the delegation, who said the government should allow opposition leaders to visit the Valley. “I think if you let in European Union parliamentarians, you should also let in opposition politicians from India. So there is some kind of disbalance, the government should somehow address it.”

Opposition parties have criticised the visit of the foreign MP to Kashmir valley, saying it is against the national interest.
