Independent MP and businessman Vijay Mallya has resigned from the Rajya Sabha. Sources said he has sent his resignation letter to the Rajya Sabha Chairman. He has also sent the letter to the Chairman of the Ethics Committee of the House. In his resignation letter, Mallya said the recent events suggest that he will not get a fair trial or justice.
This comes a week after the Ethics committee decided to unanimously expel him from the House. However, it had given him a week’s time to explain his conduct. The committee was scheduled to meet tomorrow to take a final call on his membership. His tenure was due to end next month. Mallya is accused of alleged bank loan default and money laundering.
