Veteran singer and actor Pandit Ramdas Kamat passed away at his residence in Vile Parle, in Mumbai on Saturday late night. He was 90 years old. Pandit Ramdas Kamat started his career in the musical theater with the play ‘Sangeet Sanshay Kallol’ by The Goa Hindu Association. He had since acted in eighteen musical dramas.
Pandit Kamat was born in Mapusa in Goa. He took music education from his elder brother Upendra since childhood, and also learned musical drama from him. Along with Pandit Govind Buwa Agni, Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, he had undergone training in drama music and acting by Prabhakar Pendharkar and Bhalchandra Pendharkar.
