Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI, has started its probe into the mysterious death of retired Indian Forest Service, IFS, officer Vijay Bahadur, who acted as an observer in two Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal or Vyapam recruitment tests of Madhya Pradesh.

The CBI team Tuesday arrived at Jharsuguda in Odisha from Delhi for the purpose. CBI team has started probing whether the death of Vijay Bahadur, whose body was found on a railway track near Belpahar station in Jharsuguda district last week was an accidental death or had any links with the Vyapam scam.

The CBI team visited Belpahar railway station and interrogated station master. During the interrogation, the investigating officials questioned the station master why Puri-Jodhpur Express in which Bahadur was travelling stopped at Belpahar Railway station on October 15, while Belpahar was not a scheduled stoppage of the train.

Local media reports that Bahadur was returning from Puri in the train after attending a function there. His wife had alleged foul play behind the husband’s mysterious death.

Bahadur’s death is the first incident after the Supreme Court in July handed over the probe to the CBI, which is inquiring into the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board or Vyapam scam.
