Uttar Pradesh police has registered an FIR against Mohammad Akhlaq’s family for cow slaughter. 50-year-old Akhlaq was killed by a mob on 29th September last year on the suspicion that his family stored and consumed beef at their home.
Station Officer of Jarcha, Pradeep Kumar Singh told media about the lodging of FIR.
The police action came after Judicial Magistrate Vijay Kumar yesterday ordered to investigate and lodge an FIR for cow slaughter against Akhlaq’s family.
Residents of Bishada village in Dadri were demanding filing of FIR against Akhlaq’s family for alleged cow slaughter.
Jaan Mohammad, brother of Akhlaq, had yesterday said the decision of the court has to be respected but the investigation should be fair.
The Uttar Pradesh Police ADG (law and order) Daljeet Singh Chaudhary talking to media in Varansi today said, it would conduct a free and fair investigation in the matter.
