Unrelenting heat wave swept across Odisha yesterday, with 12 places registering temperature of over 40 degree Celsius. Bhubaneswar emerged the hottest place in the state with 43.5 degree Celsius. Due to the intense heat, roads and marketplaces wore a deserted look in the city.
The MeT department predicted that the western and southern parts may experience rainfall in next 24 hours but the heat wave would continue in coastal Odisha. Meanwhile, the Special Relief Commissioner’s Office has said, it received 156 death cases said to be due to sunstroke, while 80 cases have been inquired so far.
