Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray has apologized for the controversial cartoon published in Party mouthpiece Saamana on Maratha silent March.

Addressing media persons in Mumbai today, he said, the news publication had no intention to hurt anybody’s sentiments. He criticized parties who tried to politicize the matter and spoiled the unity by creating animosity between casts. Mr Thackeray said, Shiv Sena never ever believed and practiced cast based politics.

His remarks came on the backdrop of sharp objections raised on the controversial cartoon in Saamana. Reacting on Thackeray’s apology, Samabhaji Brigade, Maratha organisation said, the controversy is over and they don’t want to stretch the matter furthermore.

Shiv Sena also demanded a special session of state legislature on Maratha reservation issue. Mr Thackeray said, his party fully supports Maratha Reservation.
