US President Donald Trump has said, his administration has begun high-level direct talks with North Korean counterparts ahead of the first-ever bilateral summit.
Speaking to media in Florida yesterday, Mr.Trump said 5 locations outside the United States are now under consideration for the summit.
According to US official, Secretary of State nominee and CIA Director Mike Pompeo made a secret visit to North Korea over in a couple of weeks ago and met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to discuss a planned summit with US President Donald Trump.
The visit was arranged by South Korean intelligence chief Suh Hoon with his North Korean counterpart, Kim Yong Chol, and was intended to assess whether Kim was prepared to hold serious talks. The US-North Korea summit is expected in early June or just before.
Earlier, in his meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at his Palm Beach, Florida resort, the US president said, he would raise the issue of Japanese abductees held by North Korea during the summit.
