Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has said the threat of the use of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear, CBRN weapons is becoming a reality, particularly from the non-state actors.
Addressing a workshop on CBRN Technologies organized by Defence Research Development Organisation, DRDO in New Delhi today, Mr Rawat expressed confidence that DRDO’s long term perspective plan and integrated perspective plan of the services must envision development of technologies against such CBRN threats.
He said, technologies to counter such threats are the need of the hour. General Rawat also inaugurated an exhibition on CBRN technologies.
Later at apress conference army chief said “We understand China is a powerful country, but we are not a weak nation… Dealing with China is a whole of government approach. Diplomatic engagement with China is happening well… Focus has to shift to the northern borders, for too long we have focused on the western borders. We should start preparing for the next kind of warfare, which are cyber and space.”
