Telangana has entered into a cooperation agreement with Thuringia, marking a significant step towards expanding collaboration in technology, skill development, startups and life sciences.
The agreement was formalised during the visit of Mario Voigt, who met Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad. During the discussions, Voigt praised Telangana’s rapid economic progress and described the state as one of India’s emerging centres of innovation and development.
Highlighting the changing global employment landscape, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stressed the importance of creating skill training programmes aligned with the artificial intelligence era. He said Telangana aims to prepare a globally competitive workforce capable of meeting talent demands in countries such as Germany, Japan and South Korea.
The Chief Minister also sought Thuringia’s cooperation in strengthening skill development across universities and technical institutions and proposed setting up a German language training centre in Hyderabad to support international employment opportunities.
Responding positively, Mario Voigt said Thuringia would work on customised skill development programmes tailored for Telangana’s requirements. He added that industries and universities in Thuringia would collaborate with Telangana institutions to create stronger academic and industrial partnerships.
Telangana Minister D. Sridhar Babu said Hyderabad has already emerged as a preferred destination for global semiconductor companies and noted that the state is now moving towards establishing semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.
Key Highlights of the Telangana-Thuringia MoU:
- Target Sectors: IT, AI, Semiconductors, Life Sciences, MedTech, Optics, Photonics, and Aerospace.
- Education Alignment: Modernizing curricula at Young India Skills University (YISU) and polytechnics.
- Language Initiative: Proposal for a dedicated German Language Training Hub in Hyderabad.
- Upcoming Milestone: An incoming delegation of German semiconductor firms to explore local manufacturing investments.
