The BJP has appointed Tala Marandi as President of its Jharkhand unit. State party spokesman Pradip Sinha said in Ranchi that Mr Marandi replaces Ravindra Kumar Ray, who is also a Lok Sabha MP.
Mr Marandi’s appointment is aimed at striking a balance in the tribal state by making a member of the community as its party chief after it had made a non-tribal, Raghubar Das as Chief Minister.
BJP has reached out to the Scheduled Tribes by appointing Mr Marandi as its state chief. Mr Marandi is a two-time MLA from Borio constituency.
