India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today dismissed the reports that she was being considered as candidate for the coming presidential polls saying it is mere ‘rumours’.
The Government is holding parleys with Opposition parties in a bid to arrive at consensus for Presidential nominee, but so far none of the sides had declared its candidate.
The names doing the rounds include that of Ms Swaraj too.
When asked about it, she dodged a direct answer, saying she was the External Affairs Minister, but was being asked something which was related to internal affairs.
BJP chief Amit Shah has set up a three-member team comprising Minister for Information and Broadcasting Venkaiah Naidu, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Defence Minister Arun Jaitley to discuss the matter with the Opposition, and these Union Ministers have so far spoken to various leaders, including Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
