Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today claimed that there is a strong undercurrent in favour of the opposition INDIA bloc in the Lok Sabha polls and the BJP will be restricted to 150 seats.
Addressing a joint press conference with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav at Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Gandhi said, this 2024 Lok Sabha election is about the battle of ideologies. He alleged that the BJP never speaks about issues concerning people.
On the electoral bonds scheme, Mr Gandhi alleged that it is the biggest extortion scheme. He said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi claims that the scheme was brought to bring transparency in poll funding and questioned why it was struck down by the apex court.
Mr Yadav claimed that the winds of change will start blowing from Ghaziabad to Ghazipur in the State and the BJP will be given a grand farewell after the Lok Sabha election results.
The SP and the Congress are fighting Lok Sabha polls in alliance in Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing a joint press conference with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav here, Gandhi said there is a strong undercurrent in favour of the opposition I.N.D.I.A. bloc in the Lok Sabha elections and the BJP will be limited to 150 seats.
Gandhi referred to Modi’s comment that the electoral bonds were brought for transparency and to clean politics in an interview with a news agency ANI, which he dismissed as “scripted” and a “flop show”, and asked if this is true, why did the Supreme Court scrap the scheme. “If you wanted to bring transparency, why did you hide the names of those who gave money to the BJP? And why did you hide the dates on which they gave them the money.”
He said no matter how much clarification Modi gives, it will not make any difference. “…the entire country knows that the Prime Minister is the champion of corruption,” Gandhi said.
