Rajasthan experienced extensive damage in many districts due to the strong thunderstorm that hit the state last night. 12 people lost their lives and many others injured in incidents caused by the storm in Tonk district alone.
Tonk District Collector Chinmayi Gopal told Akashwani that people died due to house and wall collapse. She said that a survey of loss of life and property is being conducted. Trees were uprooted, electric poles fell at many places, and tin tapers were blown away late at night due to storms.
Hoardings fell on the roads and power supply was also affected at many places. The speed of stormy winds was recorded at 96 km per hour at the airport in the capital Jaipur.
Strong winds continued at various places in the state. According to the Met Department, there is a possibility of continuation of thunderstorms and rain in the state for the next three-four days.
