Headline inflation in Colombo dropped to 54.2 percent for the month of January. The inflation measured by Colombo Consumer Price Index decreased by 3 percentage points from 57.2 percent in December 2022. According to the Census and Statistics department Food inflation has also decreased by over 3 percentage points to 60.1% in January 2023 against the previous month. Inflation in Sri Lanka is measured separately for Colombo using CCPI and for the entire island using National Consumer Price Index (NCPI).

The inflation as measured by NCPI for December 2022 was 59.2 per cent.
