Congress President Sonia Gandhi today said it was the responsibility of the BJP government at the Centre and in Madhya Pradesh to look into the plight of farmers and demanded timely compensation for those whose crops were damaged in rains and hailstorm.

During her visit to Neemach district of Madhya Pradesh, she said that farmers are our annadatas and it is the responsibility of all of us to work to provide them relief.

Congress President’s visit comes amid increased focus of the party on farmers’ issues and its strident opposition to the NDA government’s controversial land bill which has brought opposition parties on one platform.

During her visit Mrs. Gandhi appealed to the State and Central government to give right and timely compensation to these farmers.

Gandhi, who is on a day-long visit to the state, is visiting Neemach, Manasaa, Kanjaad, deeken and Choukdi villages.Gandhi was accompanied by State congress President Arun Yadav, Former MP Minakshi Natrajan and leader of opposition in the state assembly Satya Dev Katare.
