Shivsena candidate Amit Ghoda has won the Palghar assembly by-election by 18 thousand 948 (18,948) votes. He had defeated Congress candidate Rajendra Gavit. Amit Ghoda received 68 thousand 181 (68,181) votes whereas Rajendra Gavit stood as first runner up with 48 thousand 181 (48,181) votes.

Bahujan Vikas Aaghadi candidate Manisha Nimkar was second runner up with 36 thousand 781 (36,781) votes whereas CPI-M candidate Chandrakant Vartha had won 4 thousand 865 (4,865) votes. 3162 citizens had chosen to vote for NOTA in this election. Voting was held on 13th February of this month.

This by-election took place following the demise of sitting Shiv Sena MLA Krishna Arjun Ghoda on May 2015. He was elected from Palghar reserved tribal constituency during the 2014 Assembly elections.
