Sheila Dikshit takes charge of DPCC amid cheers from workers

Thousands of Congress workers and leaders gave a rousing welcome to Sheila Dikshit, who officially took charge as the President of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee at the Delhi Congress office, Rajiv Bhawan, here today.

A massive number of Congress workers gathered to greet Dikshit and the three newly appointed Working Presidents Haroon Yusuf, Devendra Yadav and Rajesh Lilothia. All the senior Congress leaders of Delhi came under one umbrella to strengthen the hands of the party and Mrs Dikshit.

I thank Sonia Gandhiji and Congress president Rahul Gandhi for reposing faith in me to make me the president of the Delhi Congress at a crucial time, she said while addressing workers and leaders gathered there.

Our target is to reach out to the people at every nook and corner of Delhi to ensure the victory of the Congress party in all the seven Parliamentary seats in Delhi. I will be available to the Congress workers 24 hours a day to motivate them to work for the party at the grass-root level, the former chief minister of Delhi said.

Mr Ajay Maken, his predecessor, Mr J P Agarwal, and other PCC ex chiefs Subhash Chopra and A S Lovely besides senior AICC leaders Dr Karan Singh, Janardan Dwivedi and P C. Chacko were among those present on the occasion.
