The scholars also expressed dismay over non- uniformity among the Madrssa across the country. Majority of the speaker were also of the view the Madrasa education is no way an obstacle in the way of democracy.
Delivering the key note address Minister of state for external affairs, E Ahmad said that the democracy was always welcomed by Muslims. He however said it was not necessary that they follow western democracy in Toto.
Noted journalist Kuldeep Nayar said that Hindus and non-Muslims were ignorant of Muslims in India and asked Muslims to come forward and make them aware of the facts. He said that Madrasas could play a vital role in the direction. “There is no bifurcation of education on secular and religious line” Nayar said.
The vice chancellor of Darul Huda, Dr. Bahauddeen Nadwi, presented a comprehensive idea about the goals, methods and functions of Darul Huda Islamic University.
Praising ‘Darul Huda as an exemplary institution, Prof. Yoginder Sikand asked other Madrassas to follow the Huda model. Prof. Akhtar Wasey, Dr. Faizal Hudawi and Dr. Arshad Alam presented papers while Prof. Shahid Mahdi, Dr. UVK Muhammad also spoke on the subject.
The seminar was part of silver jubilee celebration of ‘Darul Huda’, an islmaic university based in Mallapuram , Kerala.
