The semi-final bouts of Women’s World Championship will be held at Ulan-Ude in Russia tomorrow.
Lovlina Borgohain and Jamuna Bora, both from Assam, are among the four Indian boxers in the semis. Fellow North Easterner and six-time world champion Mary Kom and debutant Manju Rani complete the line-up.
For Lovlina, it will be an attempt to improve upon her bronze medal in 69 Kilogram category at the same event last year. She will be facing Yang Liu of China. In 54 Kilogram category, Jamuna will clash against top seed Huang Hsiao-Wen of Chinese Taipei in her semi-final match.
Mary Kom has 6 gold medals and 1 silver at World Championships and she is assured of a medal in semis of 51 Kilogram category tomorrow. With this, Mary Kom will become the first boxer in the history of World C
