The Supreme Court today refused to vacate its order staying the Centre’s notification lifting ban on Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu. A bench comprising Justices Dipak Misra and N V Ramana said that yesterday’s order by which the Centre’s notification was stayed doesn’t warrant any alteration.
The fresh petitions were filed by some residents of Tamil Nadu who had sought vacation of yesterday’s order saying that the age-old cultural tradition of the state should be allowed to continue.
