The Supreme Court has come down on Maharashtra Police for putting certain conditions for granting licences to dance bars across the state. Asserting that the dance is an art, the court yesterday criticized the conditions set by Police like providing them with live CCTV feed of dance performances and segregating the dance area from the restaurant.

A two-Judges bench asked Additional Solicitor General Pinky Anand, appearing for Maharashtra government to clarify its stand on some contentious conditions on March 1st, the next date of hearing. The dance bar association in Maharashtra has complained to the court saying certain conditions as required by Police are regressive ones and need to be changed.
