Senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) veteran Suresh “Bhaiyyaji” Joshi has stepped down from his role as the patron (Palak) of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The 78-year-old leader officially cited health reasons for relinquishing his responsibilities, marking a notable departure from the organization overseeing the Ayodhya temple project.
Joshi’s exit comes during a broader organizational reshuffle within the trust, which is unfolding against the sensitive backdrop of the Ayodhya Ram Temple donation theft and financial irregularity controversy. Originally appointed as a guiding figure following past land-purchase disputes tied to the project, Joshi functioned primarily in an advisory capacity behind the scenes.
As an influential figure who previously served as the RSS general secretary from 2009 to 2021, Joshi was widely regarded as a vital structural link between the Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Despite his high political standing, he maintained a low public profile throughout his tenure, rarely making public appearances or visiting Ayodhya for day-to-day administrative matters.
While health has been formally cited as the driving factor for his resignation, political and organizational observers view the move as part of an ongoing restructuring effort.
