Cutting across party lines, members in the Rajya Sabha today took serious exception to paid news and demanded a discussion to find a solution. Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley said paid news is an aberration which is adversely affecting all the politicians.
He also expressed concern over excessive advertisements in print media. The Minister called for a solution before taking any decision.
Deputy Chairman P J Kurien said it is a serious matter. Sitaram Yechury of the CPIM said, paid news is becoming a big racket. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi suggested half an hour discussion. The issue was raised by Vijay Goel of the BJP during the Zero Hour.
