UP Cabinet Minister Azam Khan has given a controversial statement on Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar for which he has come under severe attack from all political corners including BSP and BJP. In Ghazaibad yesterday while addressing a program, Azam Khan had said that the hand of Ambedkar’s statue indicate that the vacant plot in front of it belongs to it whereas the land where the statue is established also belongs to Ambedkar.
He was referring about the campaign of Bahujan Samaj Party under which it has constructed several parks and memorials with having lots of statues of Ambedkar in it.
BSP has severely criticised the statement of Khan and has demanded an unconditional apology from him. While BJP termed his utterance as derogatory and totally unethical and has demanded that Azam Khan must be sacked from the cabinet saying he does not deserve remaining a minister.
BJP state president Keshav Prasad Maurya said that BJP will not tolerate the nonsensical statements of Azam Khan on stalwarts like Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar. CM Akhilesh Yadav was also present in the program in which senior minister Azam Khan made this statement which is likely to turn into a major political fireball.
