According to sources a new political party fully backed by JIH is all set to hit India’s political arena on Monday, the April 18 next. Preparations are going on to finalise the name of office bearers of the new party including president and general secretary in New Delhi. Sources say Jamaat could elect a party president who might not necessarily be a member of the JIH.

Though young activists of deny Jamaat’s role in the formation of new party but the Jamaat headquarters here is abuzz with political activities as delegates from all India have started converging here.

Meanwhile Jamaat got a set back in its strong hold Kerala where its political secretary and national representative Hameed Vanimel resigned from the organization accusing it of losing moral values.

Hameed was aghast by Jamaat decision to back LDF in the forthcoming assembly elections in Kerala.  Hameed said that he could not understand the rationale of the Jamaat supporting the Communist Party of India (Marxist) CPI(M)] led left.

“The CPI(M) is a party which had always called the Jamaat-e-Islami a terror outfit,” he said adding that left had tried to destroy JIH  using power and influence from time to time.

It may also be recalled that Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan last July made a perilous remark against Muslims saying ‘Muslims were indulged in communal and divisive activities with the aim of turning Kerala into a Muslim majority state’.

Regardless of their political differences, almost all Muslim organisations, including the mainstream party Indian Union Muslim League, dubbed Achuthanandan’s statement as “dangerous” and meant to “insulting the entire community”.

Earlier Achuthanandan also surprised political circles in the state by saying Muslim and Christian communalism had been gaining strength in Kerala.

It is reported that it was during a meeting between CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan and Jamaat-e-Islami State Ameer T. Arifali in Alappuzha on March 20 that an understanding was reached on giving the Jamaat ‘s support to the front in the elections.

Meanwhile, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Kerala T Arifali in a TV interview said that Jamaat used to give freedom for anyone to express adverse views in its decision making bodies. ‘In the case of Hameed Vanimel, he opposed the state committee’s decision to vote for LDF this year”.

Meanwhile Jammat has also extended support to 15 candidate of UDF in Kerala elections but Indian Union Muslim League has rejected the offer saying ‘we don’t need of Jamaat support’

While rejecting Jamaat offer IUML general secretary PK Kunhalikutty said in Malappuram that Jamaat decision to support UDF in 15 constituencies is in a sense, making mockery of the front. “It is better they do not support UDF. We do not want their support”.
