Turkish Supreme Election Council has officially declared Recep Tayyip Erdogan as the winner of the presidential election runoff with 52.18 percent of the votes.

Erdogan was reelected as the president in the runoff polls where he contested against the presidential nominee of the Turkish opposition bloc Kemal Kilicdaroglu, 74, leader of the centreleft Republican People’s Party (CHP). Kilicdaroglu had 47.82 percent of the votes.

The presidential runoff was held on 28th May after neither of the candidates secured over 50 percent of votes in the 14th May elections. Erdogan will take oath in parliament on Saturday and then announce his new cabinet.
