MehboobaBJP National General Secretary today meet PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti in Srinagar and discussed government formation in Jammu & Kashmir.

BJP leader tried to break the stalemate over formation of government in Jammu and Kashmir following the death of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

He called on Mehbooba Mufti at her residence and discussed the issues for around an hour at her residence at Gupkar in Srinagar.

Sources said Madhav flew to Srinagar in a special chartered plane in a fresh attempt to break the deadlock over government formation in J&K. It is a fresh visit by Madhav and BJP for striking deal with the reluctant PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti.

Earlier, National Conference Working President & former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted about the unscheduled visit of BJP national General Secretary. He said something was cooking up regarding the PDP-BJP government formation.

Madhav, who played a crucial role in forging an alliance with the ideologically opposite PDP last year, might convey a message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Mehbooba on government formation.

The stalemate continued over govt formation as there was no headway on the issue. Both PDP and BJP have not formally or informally initiated any process to discuss the issues that are impeding the new govt formation.

PDP President Mehbooba Mufti made it clear that she will not form the government with BJP in the State if the Central Govt does not create a conducive atmosphere by committing confidence building measures (CBMs) for the state.

The State is under Governor’s Rule since January 08. Sources said Madhav is scheduled to fly back to Delhi late this evening.
