Met office forecast good rainfall in the country

Most parts of coastal Odisha including the state capital Bhubaneswar yesterday received downpour due to a low pressure. The MeT department said the low pressure area over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off the coasts of south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh persists.

Under its impact, heavy rainfall likely to occur at one or two places in coastal Odisha. North-westerly surface wind with a speed of 35 to 45 Kmph is likely to prevail along and off the South Odisha coast.

MeT department has cautioned fishermen to remain alert while venturing into the sea off south Odisha.

In Uttar Pradesh, moderate to heavy rains hit several parts of state leading to a rise in water levels in major rivers. A Central Water Commission report said while the water level in the Ganga is rising in Fatehgarh, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat and Mirzapur, Yamuna is rising in Mohna and Banda.

Heavy rains lashed some parts of Himachal Pradesh yesterday as monsoon remained active in the lower hilly areas of the state.The MeT Department has warned heavy rains in some places in mid and lower hills over next six days.

In Punjab and Haryana, the maximum temperature hovered near normal level, but high humidity added to the discomfiture of to the residents.

Parts of Rajasthan exprienced light rains but people continued to reel under heat wave conditions.

Light rains in several parts of Bihar brought the mercury down by a few notches. Humid conditions also prevailed in West Bengal following rains in parts of the state.
