rahul-2Representatives of ex-servicemen Friday met Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi to discuss their concerns over implementation of One Rank One Pension (OROP).

Talking to media after the meeting, Mr Gandhi criticised the Modi government for not fulfilling the promise of OROP.

He claimed, what Prime Minister is saying on OROP is actually pension enhancement and not actual OROP. Mr Gandhi alleged government is only spreading lies over it.

He said, OROP is the right of armed forces personnel and government will have to give it. Mr Gandhi said, Centre must apologise to family of ex-armyman who allegedly committed suicide over OROP.

Meanwhile, BJP hit back at Rahul Gandhi saying he is misleading people over implementation of OROP and unnecessarily targeting the government.

Party leader Shrikant Sharma accused Mr Gandhi of politicisng the matter. He charged the previous UPA government with doing nothing for ex-servicemen and delaying OROP implementation.

He alleged that the opposition is conspiring to defame the government in view of upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.

The BJP leader also criticised Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on the issue. He threw a challenge before the opposition to do politics of development.

Replying to a media query on Uttar Pradesh, he said there is no law and order situation and power supply is in the state is in bad shape. He claimed that crime is on rise there and people wants development.
