Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi is set to launch a nationwide campaign on education issues from Kota, Rajasthan, with a major public rally titled “Chhatron Ki Goonj”. According to the Congress initiative, the campaign aims to highlight challenges faced by students and raise questions over the current education system.
The campaign is expected to focus on concerns such as rising coaching and education costs, examination paper leaks, declining affordability of higher education and employment prospects for graduates. Congress leaders have alleged that increasing privatisation and centralisation have weakened access to quality education and increased pressure on families.
The party has also cited issues including unemployment among graduates and rising student distress, while demanding accountability from the Union Education Ministry and seeking the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The campaign will begin with a large gathering in Kota, a major coaching hub that attracts students from across India. During the programme, Rahul Gandhi is expected to interact with students and discuss education, opportunities and future policy directions.
Congress said the outreach will continue nationwide through its affiliated organisations, including National Students’ Union of India and Indian Youth Congress, with additional conventions planned in Prayagraj, Patna and Delhi.
