Congress leaders have sought to mock at RBI Governor Urjit Patel’s reported remarks that the central bank was still counting the demonetised notes. They also hit out at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
”GoI looking for a Math tutor. Please apply to PMO ASAP,” Rahul said in a tweet.
The Congress Vice President posted on his twitter handle a news reports that quoted RBI Governor Urjit Patel as telling the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance yesterday that the RBI was still counting the demonetised notes.
During the day former Finance Minister and senior party leader P Chidambaram also took a dig at the RBI for buying note-counting machines nearly eight months after demonetisation.
“RBI buying note counting machines 8 months after demonetisation! Has RBI not heard of ‘leasing’,” Mr Chidambaram said in a tweeter missive.
Mr Chidambaram also poked fun at the NDA’s Mudra scheme, which the Government claims has provided self-employment opportunities to over 7-crore people, especially the youth.
“‘7.28-crore youth self-employed under MUDRA loan scheme’ — that is title of mythological serial beginning today. Scriptwriters may apply,” he posted on Twitter today.
BJP chief Amit Shah yesterday flayed the detractors of the Government to question NDA regime about ‘jobless growth’.
Mr Shah had asserted that on the contrary through Mudra Bank initiatives, a large number of people have been provided with assistance to set up their self-employment units.
“If you confine jobs only to service sector, this would not be good for the country,” Mr Shah had said addressing a function organised for the release of a book on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The solution to various problems in this country including on unemployment should come from a model that is suited to the country – and “not on any model either imported or loaned from abroad,” the BJP chief said — in what was seen as directed towards Congress leaders like Manmohan Singh and Chidambaram.
It is in this context, Mr Shah said the Opposition criticism is unfounded. “Jobless growth…..jobless growth….They have gone to the extent of pulling hairs even from my bald head”.
The BJP chief also said that through Mudra Bank — the Government has ensured that as many as 7.28-crore youth have been assisted to run their self-employment units.
