IMCR, Other Muslim Organisations Expresse Deep Grief Over the Demise of Maulana

Renowned Islamic scholar, author and former senior faculty member of Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, Maulana Salman Husaini Nadwi, passed away today in Lucknow, leaving behind a rich legacy of scholarship and religious leadership.
Maulana Nadwi was the founder of Jamia Syed Ahmad Shaheed and Jamiyat Shabab-ul-Islam. Widely respected as a scholar of Hadith, Quranic exegesis, Islamic thought and Arabic literature, he devoted decades to teaching thousands of students and promoting Islamic education in India.
A disciple of the late Maulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi (Ali Miyan), he remained committed to strengthening the intellectual and moral foundations of the Muslim community. He was also known for his outspoken views on issues affecting the Muslim world, particularly the Palestinian cause.
Throughout his career, Maulana Nadwi authored numerous books and delivered lectures across India and abroad. While some of his views in later years sparked debate, his contributions to Islamic scholarship and education earned him widespread recognition.
Condolences have poured in from religious scholars, students and community leaders, who remembered him as a dedicated teacher and influential Islamic thinker. His funeral prayers are expected to be attended by a large number of followers and admirers.
IMCR Expresses Deep Grief Over the Demise of Maulana Syed Salman Husaini Nadwi
The Indian Muslims for Civil Rights (IMCR) has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of the eminent Islamic scholar, thinker, fearless orator, intellectual, author, and one of the most influential voices of the Muslim community in India, Maulana Syed Salman Husaini Nadwi. The organization described his passing as an immense and irreparable loss not only for the Muslim community in India but also for the entire Muslim world.
In its condolence statement, IMCR said that Maulana Salman Husaini Nadwi was a shining symbol of scholarship, intellectual awakening, Islamic preaching, social reform, and the collective consciousness and unity of the Muslim Ummah. He dedicated his entire life to the promotion of Islam, the advancement of Islamic education, the guidance of the Muslim community, the intellectual and moral development of the younger generation, and finding solutions to the challenges confronting the Ummah. His demise has created an intellectual and scholarly vacuum that will be difficult to fill.
IMCR Chairman and former Member of Parliament, Mohammad Adeeb, in his condolence message, said:
«”The passing of Maulana Salman Husaini Nadwi has personally been a great shock to me. He was nearly ten years younger than I was. I used to visit Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama during the period when he was a student there. I had close personal ties with his family. Witnessing his extraordinary intelligence, vast knowledge, refined manner of speaking, and exceptional abilities even in those days, I was convinced that this young man would one day become a guiding light for the Muslim community—and history proved exactly that. He became an unparalleled orator, a fearless preacher, a distinguished scholar, and a profound thinker whose intellectual and scholarly contributions represented Indian Muslims across the world.”»
Mohammad Adeeb further stated that Maulana Syed Salman Husaini Nadwi not only played a remarkable role in the teaching and dissemination of Islamic knowledge but also consistently adopted clear, courageous, and well-reasoned positions on the contemporary, social, and intellectual challenges facing the Muslim community. He was a passionate advocate of Muslim unity, brotherhood, international Islamic cooperation, and the religious and moral upbringing of the younger generation. Through his speeches, writings, and scholarly gatherings, he intellectually inspired millions and strengthened their attachment to Islam.
