AMUMr Abrar Ahmed an alumnus of Aligarh Muslim University has challenged the process selection of Vice Chancellor of the AMU in the Supreme Court. SC will hear the case on April 4.

He has alleged that the AMU administration has started the process of selection of VC disregarding the UGC regulations.

AMU has refused to follow the UGC regulation saying it has its own rules, statutes. The UGC regulation says that a VC should be an academic with minimum ten years of teaching experience.

But AMU wants to appoint the current Pro-Vice Chancellor Brigadier Syed Ahmad Ali who is from army and has no teaching experience.
AMU’s Executive Committee is meeting on Saturday to decide on the next VC.

Lawyer Prashant Bhushan will represent the petitioner.
