Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi today said that Governments led by the Congress Party enacted the SC-ST Sub Plan, SC-ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, PESA Act, Panchayati Raj Act, Forest Rights Act, 2006 to protect the tribal communities in the country and enacted the MGNREGA for the welfare of the tribal and under-privileged sections of the society. Addressing an election rally in the tribal-dominated Nandurbar district of North Maharashtra today, Priyanka Gandhi attacked the NDA Government over the Manipur violence. She said the Narendra Modi-led government chose to be silent over disgraceful incidents like Hathras and when medal winner women wrestlers were asking for justice.
Priyanka Gandhi was campaigning in favour of Adv Goval Padvi, the son of former Maharashtra Minister and sitting Legislator K.C. Padvi. Goval Padvi is contesting his maiden General Election against Heena Gavit, a two-term MP from the seat.
