President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed grief over the killing of 39 Indian workers in Iraq and said all Indians stand by the bereaved families of Mosul victims.

In a tweet, Mr Kovind said, he is extremely sad to learn of the tragic end of Indian citizens in Iraq. The President appreciated efforts of government and the officials, who worked hard to take the sad episode to a conclusion over the past four years.

The Prime Minister in a tweet said the Government remains fully committed to ensuring the safety of our sisters and brothers overseas.

Mr Modi said, the Ministry of External Affairs and particularly, Mrs Swaraj and Minister of State for External Affairs General V K Singh left no stone unturned in trying to trace and safely bring back those we lost in Mosul.
