Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapadi K Palanisami has announced that a Poultry Research Institute will be set up in Namakkal. Speaking to press persons after chairing a Covid 19 and Development Schemes review meeting, he said that the institute is being planned on the lines of the High Security Animal Research Institute Bhopal and Poultry Management Institute Pune.
This assumes importance against the fact that Namakkal is one of the most important poultry breeding centres in South India. The Chief Minister also said that an Arecanut Research Station will be set up in Paramathi Velur in the district.
Edapadi Palanisamy also revealed that a major canal system, stretching for about 132 kms through Tamilnadu, connecting the Cauvery river with Ponniyaru and Manimutharu rivers is under consideration and is being examined by the government.
Earlier, besides chairing the review meeting, Edapadi Palanisami also inaugurated several projects and construction works under various schemes at a total cost of Rs 250 crores.
He also examined the progress of the construction of Namakkal Government Medical College Hospital and the Special Covid Care Centre.
